This website is published by The Bright Family Law Center, LLC (14221 Metcalf Ave. Suite 210, Overland Park, KS 66223). These terms are between the firm and you, the person using the site. Our privacy policy explains what the site collects and forms part of these terms.

General information, not legal advice

Everything on this site, including articles, guides, calculators, checklists and answers to common questions, is general information about Kansas and Missouri family law. It is not legal advice, it is not tailored to your situation, and the law changes. Do not act, or refrain from acting, on anything here without advice from a lawyer who knows your facts. Our disclaimer sets this out more fully and applies to every page.

No attorney-client relationship

Reading this site, sending a message through it, calling the number on it, or receiving a reply from us does not make you a client of the firm. An attorney-client relationship is formed only by a written engagement agreement signed by the firm. Until then, please keep anything you send us general: the firm may already represent someone else involved in your matter, and information sent before we have run a conflict check is not protected by the attorney-client privilege.

Using the site

You may use this site to learn about family law and about the firm, and to contact us. You may not use it to send unlawful, abusive or deceptive material, to attempt to gain access to any part of the site or its server that is not intended for the public, to scrape or harvest information from it in bulk, or to interfere with its operation. The consultation form and the newsletter are for people with a genuine interest in the firm’s services.

Ownership of the material

The text, photographs, video, graphics, logos and code on this site belong to the firm or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may read, print or share a page for your own personal, non-commercial use, with the source credited. Any other reproduction, republication or commercial use needs our written permission. “The Bright Family Law Center” and the firm’s mark are trademarks of the firm.

Links to other websites

The site links to court websites, government resources and other third parties for your convenience. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.

No warranties

The site is provided as it is and as it is available. We try to keep it accurate and working, but we make no promise that it is complete, current, error-free, uninterrupted or free of anything harmful, and we may change or remove any part of it without notice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the firm and its attorneys and staff are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or anything on it, including loss caused by relying on general information here instead of obtaining advice. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects the duties the firm owes to a client under a signed engagement.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute about this website are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts sitting in Johnson County, Kansas have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top is the version that applies; continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
